Delete your NOX account
// account deletion · updated 2026-10-28You can delete your NOX account and its data at any time. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
1. In the app or on the web (fastest)
- Open NOX on your phone, on desktop, or at app.nox-chat.com and sign in.
- Go to Settings → My Account.
- Under Delete Account, enter your password, type
DELETE MY ACCOUNT, and press Delete Account.
This works the same on iPhone, iPad, Android, desktop and the web.
2. If you can't sign in
Email [email protected] with the subject "Delete my NOX account" and your NOX username. If you added a recovery email or phone number, send the email from that address or include that number, so we can check the account is yours. We reply within 30 days and confirm when the account is deleted. We never ask for your password by email.
3. What is deleted
- Your messages and DMs (readable text is replaced with "[deleted]" and then removed with your account; end-to-end encrypted messages, which we hold only as ciphertext, are removed with your account).
- Your profile, server memberships and roles, notification settings, statistics and activity heatmap, poll votes and event responses, reactions in DMs.
- Your device list, trusted devices, encryption keys and key backup, and notification tokens.
- Your entries in the deleted-message archive.
- Uploaded files that no one else uses.
4. What is kept, and for how long
- Call records, bug reports and debug reports stay without your identity: your account ID is removed from them. Copies already moved to the monthly archive keep it until they are deleted by hand.
- Security, safety and moderation records (bans, timeouts, audit logs, message reports and any sign-in history) are kept as long as needed for safety, security and legal reasons, and reviewed periodically.
- Backups and the archive: data can remain in a database backup, or in the monthly archive of older logs, diagnostics and backups kept in the operator's Google Drive, until it is deleted by hand. Nothing there is deleted automatically.
- Messages you sent in servers and group DMs can still appear in other people's replies or quotes, end-to-end encrypted messages other members already received can stay on their devices, and anything others saved themselves is outside our control.
